Gábor Király was a popular Crystal Palace goalkeeper in the mid-2000s and became a cult hero partly because of his trademark grey tracksuit bottoms. Palace say he made 111 appearances and kept 33 clean sheets after joining from Hertha Berlin in 2004. He was Palace’s first-choice keeper for much of their 2004–05 Premier League season and remained with the club until 2007. He is especially remembered for his character, shot-stopping, and for saving a penalty in Palace’s 0–0 draw with Charlton Athletic in December 2004. More broadly, he remains one of the club’s most distinctive and fondly remembered modern goalkeepers.
