Roy Hodgson was a major Crystal Palace manager across two spells. First appointed in September 2017, he took over after a disastrous start and kept Palace in the Premier League, then stabilised the club over four seasons before leaving in May 2021. He returned in March 2023, replacing Patrick Vieira, and again steered Palace clear of danger, guiding them to an 11th-place finish that season. He stayed on for 2023–24 before stepping down in February 2024. As a Palace figure, Hodgson is mainly remembered for experience, calm leadership, and repeatedly keeping his boyhood club competitive in the Premier League.
