Darren Ambrose was a gifted attacking midfielder who made a big impression at Crystal Palace from 2009 to 2012. He is best remembered for his superb long-range shooting, creativity, and knack for scoring memorable goals. His standout season was 2009–10, when he scored 20 goals and played a huge role in Palace staying in the Championship despite their points deduction, including the crucial strike on the final day at Sheffield Wednesday. He also scored the famous long-range winner at Old Trafford in Palace’s 2–1 League Cup win over Manchester United in November 2011. Palace still celebrate him as a key figure of that era.
