Crystal Palace’s 2013 play-off campaign was one of the biggest moments in the club’s modern history. Palace reached the Championship play-off final after a dramatic semi-final win over Brighton, then beat Watford 1–0 after extra time at Wembley on 27 May 2013. Kevin Phillips scored the winning penalty after Wilfried Zaha was fouled, sealing promotion to the Premier League. Palace came into the final as underdogs, but a resilient performance, helped by key saves from Julian Speroni and a late Joel Ward clearance, got them over the line. The win sent Palace back to the top flight and began the club’s long Premier League era.
