Bobby Tambling was one of Chelsea’s great early goalscorers, starring from 1959 to 1970. A predatory centre-forward, Tambling scored 202 goals in 370 appearances, making him Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer for over 40 years until Frank Lampard surpassed him. He was renowned for sharp movement, instinctive finishing, and reliability in front of goal during a period of limited silverware. Tambling helped Chelsea win the League Cup in 1965 and played a key role in stabilising the club in the post-title years. For older supporters, he remains a benchmark striker at Stamford Bridge.
