Antonio Rüdiger was Chelsea’s aggressive, front-foot centre-back from 2017–2022, becoming a cornerstone under Thomas Tuchel in a back three. Fast, physical, and fearless stepping into midfield, he mixed crunching defending with ball-carrying runs and a real knack for big moments. His peak came in 2020–21, when he helped anchor the defence that won the Champions League, then added the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in 2021. He left on a free in 2022 for Real Madrid, remembered for intensity, leadership, and clutch performances.
