Ramires was Chelsea’s high-octane “engine” from 2010–2016, signed from Benfica for around £17m. A tireless box-to-box midfielder, he mixed ball-winning with explosive bursts forward and became a big-game weapon. His defining Chelsea moment was the cool chip at the Camp Nou vs Barcelona in the 2012 Champions League semi-final—an away goal that helped drive the run to European glory. Overall he made 251 appearances, scoring 34 goals, and won the Champions League (2012), FA Cup (2012), Europa League (2013), plus the Premier League and League Cup (2014–15).
