Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was Chelsea’s explosive No.9 from 2000–2004, arriving for a then club-record £15m. A ruthless finisher with a thunderous strike, he quickly became the focal point of the attack and won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2000–01 with 23 league goals. Under Ranieri he formed a strong partnership with Eiður Guðjohnsen and delivered relentless output in big games, finishing his Chelsea spell with 87 goals in 177 appearances (all comps). He helped drive Chelsea’s rise back toward the top end of the league before leaving in 2004.
