Carlo Ancelotti managed Chelsea from 2009 to 2011, bringing calm authority and tactical flexibility. In his first season he delivered the club’s first Premier League/FA Cup double, setting a league record 103 goals, with Drogba, Lampard and Malouda thriving in a fluid 4-3-3 after early diamond experiments. He improved training detail and dressing-room harmony, though critics said his teams could look passive without intensity. The second season unraveled: injuries, a midwinter slump, and Champions League elimination by Manchester United. Chelsea finished second and lost the FA Cup final, and Ancelotti was dismissed in May 2011, despite solid away performances late.
