Paul Slane’s Celtic spell (2010–2013) was a “nearly” story. He signed from Motherwell in February 2010, but his progress in Glasgow was repeatedly disrupted by injuries. He ended up making just one competitive first-team appearance—a 1–1 draw vs Ross County on 18 August 2012—before being sent out on loan (notably to MK Dons in early 2012 and Partick Thistle later in 2012). Celtic released him in March 2013, and he later played for clubs including Ayr United and Clyde.
