Kasper Schmeichel joined Celtic in July 2024 on a one-year deal (with an extension option), replacing the retired Joe Hart and reuniting with Brendan Rodgers. An experienced, commanding No.1, he brought calm distribution and big-game know-how after his Leicester and Denmark career. He started with a run of clean sheets that matched a long-standing club-era record, quickly winning over supporters. In December 2024 he helped Celtic win the League Cup against Rangers, including a key penalty save, and his contract was later extended into 2026.
