Biram Kayal joined Celtic from Maccabi Haifa in July 2010 and quickly became a crowd favourite for his bite, ball-winning and tempo-setting in midfield. At his best under Neil Lennon he was an aggressive presser who kept play moving and didn’t shy away in big games, but recurring injuries repeatedly broke his rhythm and reduced his minutes. He made about 132 appearances for Celtic before leaving for Brighton in January 2015. His spell delivered multiple league titles and domestic cups, with flashes of real quality when fit.
