Giorgos Giakoumakis joined Celtic from VVV-Venlo in September 2021 on a five-year deal, in a move reported around £2.5m. A powerful, penalty-box striker, he offered direct running, aerial threat, and ruthless finishing, often rotating with Kyogo rather than always starting. In 2021–22 he shared the Scottish Premiership top-scorer honour with 13 league goals and helped Celtic win the league and League Cup. Overall he scored 26 goals in 57 appearances for the club before leaving for Atlanta United in February 2023 for a deal reported at £4.3m.
