Jamie Bates’ Brentford legacy is about loyalty, durability, and leadership across a long, hard-working era for the club. Brentford say he played 524 games between 1986 and 1999, making him one of the club’s greatest-ever servants and second on their all-time appearance list. He was a tough, reliable defender who could be trusted week after week, and his longevity made him a major figure at Griffin Park. Bates helped Brentford win the Third Division title in 1991–92 and the Third Division again in 1998–99, and his standing is reflected in the club preserving his memorabilia as part of its history.
