Harry Redknapp is one of the most important figures in Bournemouth history. He first played for the club from 1972 to 1976, then returned briefly in 1982. His bigger impact came as manager from October 1983 to June 1992. Under Redknapp, Bournemouth famously beat holders Manchester United 2–0 in the 1984 FA Cup, won the Associate Members’ Cup that same season, and lifted the Third Division title in 1986–87 with a club-record 97 points. He helped shape Bournemouth’s modern identity, and his long managerial spell is still one of the most significant in the club’s history.
