Trevor Smith was a Birmingham City stalwart of the 1950s/early 60s – a tough, ever-present centre-half who came through the club’s youth setup and turned pro in 1953. He went on to make 365 league appearances for Blues (1953–1964), captained the side, and was a defensive cornerstone in one of the club’s strongest eras, including a Second Division promotion (1954–55) and the 1963 League Cup win. He also earned two full England caps in 1959 before finishing his career with a short spell at Walsall.
