Billy Walker was a true Aston Villa great of the inter-war years. An elegant inside-forward, he played for Villa from 1919 to 1934, making 531 appearances and scoring 244 goals—a long-standing club record. He won the FA Cup in 1920 (also reaching the final again in 1924) and captained Villa for much of the late 1920s. He was also capped 18 times by England, scoring nine. After leaving Villa, Walker became a successful manager elsewhere, notably winning the FA Cup with Sheffield Wednesday (1935) and Nottingham Forest (1959).
