Peter McParland was a Northern Irish winger/forward who became an Aston Villa legend in the 1950s and early 60s. His most famous day in claret and blue was the 1957 FA Cup Final, when Villa beat Manchester United 2–1 at Wembley and McParland scored both goals. He’s also remembered for making history by scoring in (and winning) both major domestic cup finals—adding the League Cup in 1961 to that FA Cup success. Internationally, he won 34 caps for Northern Ireland and was their standout attacker at the 1958 World Cup, scoring five goals and helping them reach the quarter-finals.
