Jack Grealish is a modern Aston Villa icon: a local lad who came through the academy, became captain, and carried Villa through the Championship years into the Premier League. He made his senior debut in May 2014, and by 2018–19 he was Villa’s talisman—most memorably sparking the run that ended with play-off final promotion. In the Premier League he was Villa’s main creator and foul-winner, regularly dictating games from the left. In August 2021, Villa sold him to Manchester City after City triggered his £100m release clause—a British-record fee at the time.
