The 1957 FA Cup Final is one of Aston Villa’s most famous triumphs. Villa beat Manchester United 2–1 at Wembley, despite being massive underdogs against the “Busby Babes”. The hero was Peter McParland, who scored both goals—one a long-range effort, the other after United keeper Ray Wood was injured early on. Villa played most of the match against 10 men and held firm to lift their seventh FA Cup, a record at the time. It remains a landmark day in Villa history.
