Granit Xhaka’s Arsenal story (2016–2023) is basically redemption through sheer stubbornness. Signed to bring control and bite, he became a lightning rod early on—slow-turning, rash moments, and that 2019 captaincy incident with the crowd. But under Arteta he rebuilt his standing, turning into a leader and tempo-setter: aggressive in duels, brave in build-up, and constantly available as the “outlet” pass. His final evolution came in 2022–23 when he played higher as a left-sided No.8, adding late runs, goals, and link play while still providing steel. He left for Bayer Leverkusen in 2023 as a respected senior figure who’d helped reset standards.
