Robin van Persie’s Arsenal spell (2004–2012) was a slow rise into a superstar carry-job. Early on he was a gifted, left-footed technician—silky touch, outrageous volleys, and that whip-shot into the far corner—but injuries kept interrupting him. When he finally stayed fit, he became one of the world’s best forwards: dropping between lines, linking play, and finishing from everywhere with brutal precision. His peak was 2011–12, when he captained Arsenal and scored a ridiculous volume of goals to drag them into the top four. The ending was sour: he declined a new deal and left for Manchester United in 2012, which wrecked his Arsenal relationship for many fans.
