Laurent Koscielny was Arsenal’s defensive leader from 2010 to 2019: quick, aggressive, and brilliant at reading danger. He wasn’t the biggest centre-back, but he was elite in recovery defending, last-ditch blocks, and stepping out to intercept—perfect for Arsenal’s higher line. At his peak he formed strong partnerships (notably with Per Mertesacker) and was often the one putting out fires when games went chaotic. Koscielny won three FA Cups (2014, 2015, 2017), captained the side later on, and had huge big-match performances—though his Achilles injury in 2018 was a major turning point. A top defender who carried a lot of responsibility in the Emirates era.
