Kolo Touré was Arsenal’s energetic, aggressive defender from 2002 to 2009: quick across the ground, strong in duels, and fearless stepping out to win the ball. Signed by Wenger from ASEC Mimosas, he first broke in as a midfielder before becoming a key centre-back—and he ended up an ever-present in the 2003–04 Invincibles league season. Touré’s game was built on recovery pace and front-foot defending, which helped Arsenal play higher up the pitch, and he formed a powerful partnership with Sol Campbell, later with William Gallas. He also chipped in with goals and brought huge personality to the squad. He left for Manchester City in 2009, remembered as a vital part of Arsenal’s last league-winning side.
