George “Geordie” Armstrong was Arsenal’s tireless winger from 1961–1977, famed less for flashy tricks and more for endless running, smart movement, and elite crossing from either flank. A classic team-first wide man, he gave full-backs constant support and supplied strikers with consistent delivery. He was a key part of Arsenal’s early-70s success, winning the 1969–70 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the historic 1970–71 league and FA Cup Double. Armstrong also set a then-club record for appearances (widely recorded as 621 competitive games), underlining his durability and reliability.
