Abou Diaby’s Arsenal career (2006–2015) is the ultimate “what might have been.” A powerful, elegant midfielder, he could glide past pressure with long strides, protect the ball, and drive through the middle like a modern box-to-box force. At his best he mixed physicality with technique—winning duels, carrying play, and linking attacks smoothly. But repeated, serious injuries robbed him of rhythm and availability, stopping him from ever owning a full season as a nailed-on starter. Even so, Arsenal fans remember the flashes: dominating midfield battles, that brilliant performance at Anfield in 2012, and the feeling he had the tools to be truly elite.
