Swansea City won the 2013 League Cup, securing the first major trophy in the club’s history with a dominant 5–0 victory over Bradford City at Wembley; managed by Michael Laudrup, the Swans produced a superb display of their trademark passing football, with Nathan Dyer scoring twice, Jonathan de Guzmán twice and Michu once; Swansea had already eliminated Liverpool and Chelsea during an impressive cup run, and the final became the biggest winning margin in League Cup final history; captain Garry Monk lifted the trophy alongside Ashley Williams, while the victory secured qualification for the Europa League and represented the high point of Swansea’s remarkable rise from the lower divisions to established Premier League status.
