Kevin Phillips is one of the greatest goalscorers in Sunderland A.F.C. history. Joining the Black Cats in 1997, Phillips formed a legendary strike partnership with Niall Quinn and helped fire Sunderland into the Premier League. His greatest season came in 1999–2000, when he scored an incredible 30 Premier League goals, winning both the Premier League Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe as Sunderland finished seventh. Nicknamed “Super Kev”, his movement, finishing and ability to score spectacular goals made him a hero at the Stadium of Light. Phillips scored 130 goals in 235 appearances for Sunderland, securing his place among the club’s greatest-ever players.
