John Ritchie is one of Stoke City’s greatest ever goalscorers. A powerful centre-forward, he became famous for strength, aerial ability and relentless finishing. Across two spells in the 1960s and 1970s, Ritchie scored more than 170 goals for Stoke City FC, making him the club’s all-time record scorer. He was a central figure in Tony Waddington’s successful side and helped Stoke win the 1972 League Cup, the club’s first major trophy. Direct, physical and hugely effective, Ritchie became a true Victoria Ground legend.
