St Patrick’s Athletic’s 2021 FAI Cup run ended in glory, as they won the competition for the fourth time and their first since 2014. Managed by Stephen O’Donnell, the Saints built momentum through the rounds before meeting Bohemians in the final at the Aviva Stadium on 28 November 2021. The decider finished 1–1 after extra time, with Chris Forrester scoring St Pat’s goal against his former club, before the Saints held their nerve to win 4–3 on penalties. Defender Lee Desmond was named man of the match, and the win capped off an excellent season that also brought a second-place league finish.
