Alex McLeish enjoyed a distinguished international career with Scotland national football team, earning 77 caps between 1980 and 1993. A commanding centre-back, he represented Scotland at the 1986 FIFA World Cup and the 1990 FIFA World Cup, as well as the UEFA Euro 1992. Renowned for his strength, leadership and composure, McLeish formed one of Scotland's most reliable defences during the 1980s. After retiring as a player, he later managed the national team, guiding Scotland through qualification campaigns and bringing his extensive international experience back to the dugout.
