The history of Rangers F.C. has been shaped by a succession of legendary managers, but few have had a greater impact than Bill Struth, Jock Wallace, Graeme Souness and Walter Smith. Together, they built much of Rangers’ domestic and European success across nearly a century. Bill Struth is the most successful manager in Rangers history. Between 1920 and 1954, he won 18 league titles, 10 Scottish Cups and established Rangers as the dominant force in Scottish football. His influence on the club's culture and standards remains immense. Jock Wallace led Rangers during the 1970s and early 1980s, winning multiple league titles and domestic cups. His tough, disciplined teams embodied the spirit of the club and delivered consistent success. Graeme Souness revolutionised Rangers after arriving in 1986. As player-manager, he transformed the club’s ambitions, attracting elite international talent and laying the foundations for the Nine-in-a-Row era. Walter Smith is regarded by many supporters as Rangers’ greatest modern manager. Across two spells, he won 21 major trophies, completed the Nine-in-a-Row achievement, reached the 2008 UEFA Cup Final and guided the club through some of its most successful and challenging periods.
