Joe Corrigan became a Manchester City legend after progressing through the club’s youth system and making his first-team debut in 1967, developing into an imposing and remarkably consistent goalkeeper who made 592 appearances for City; nicknamed “Big Joe,” he helped the club win the European Cup Winners’ Cup and League Cup in 1970 and the League Cup again in 1976, while also starring during City’s run to the 1981 FA Cup final; a three-time Manchester City Player of the Year and nine-cap England international, Corrigan’s shot-stopping, commanding presence and longevity established him among the finest goalkeepers in the club’s history.
