The 2011–12 season was a memorable chapter in Kilmarnock’s history. Under manager Kenny Shiels, Killie finished 7th in the Scottish Premier League, earning 47 points over the campaign. In cup competitions, they exited the Scottish Cup in the fifth round. The highlight was winning the Scottish League Cup, capturing the trophy for the first time in the club’s history with a 1–0 victory over Celtic at Hampden Park. Dean Shiels was Kilmarnock’s league top scorer with 13 goals, and both Shiels and Paul Heffernan finished as the club’s season top scorers with 15 in all competitions.
