Tom Huddlestone became a key figure in Hull City’s most successful modern era after joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013, bringing composure, passing range and Premier League experience to Steve Bruce’s midfield; in his first season he helped the Tigers record their highest-ever league finish and reach the 2014 FA Cup final, playing at Wembley as Hull raced into a 2–0 lead before Arsenal recovered to win 3–2 after extra time, and he subsequently represented the club in its first European campaign; Huddlestone remained after relegation in 2015 and played an important role in the 2015–16 promotion season, starting the 1–0 Championship play-off final victory over Sheffield Wednesday that returned Hull to the Premier League; across four seasons and more than 160 appearances, his technical quality and midfield control made him one of the defining players of that period.
