Chris Chilton became a Hull City legend after joining his hometown club in 1960, developing into a prolific centre-forward whose goals made him one of the defining Tigers players of the era; alongside fellow attacking star Ken Wagstaff, Chilton helped fire Hull to the Third Division championship in 1965–66, when the club scored more than 100 league goals, and remained a major threat as City established themselves in the Second Division; powerful, direct and clinical in front of goal, he ultimately scored 222 goals in 477 appearances for Hull, making him the club’s all-time record goalscorer, a record that has endured for decades and ensures his permanent place among the greatest players ever to wear the black and amber.
