Joseph Bevan was a pioneering figure in Dundee’s earliest history, serving as the club’s first captain following its formation in 1893; a defender who had previously played for Our Boys, one of the two clubs that merged to create Dundee FC, Bevan captained the new side during its inaugural Scottish League campaign and helped establish the foundations of the club at the end of the 19th century, giving him a distinctive place in Dundee history as one of the key figures present at the very beginning of the Dark Blues’ story.
