Coventry City’s 2025/26 promotion was one of the club’s biggest modern achievements because it ended a 25-year absence from the top flight. Under Frank Lampard, Coventry City F.C. secured promotion from the Championship on 17 April 2026 with a 1–1 draw away at Blackburn Rovers. They needed just a point to confirm it, and a late equaliser from Bobby Thomas sealed the result, sparking celebrations among travelling supporters. Coventry had led the table for much of the season and went up with games to spare, eventually finishing as champions. More than promotion, it marked the end of a long, turbulent period that had included relegation, financial issues and years outside the top flight — making their return to the Premier League one of the most significant moments in the club’s history.
