Chris Powell is one of the most respected modern figures associated with Charlton Athletic. As a player, the left-back made over 200 appearances for Charlton between 1998 and 2004, becoming a key part of the stable Premier League side built by Alan Curbishley. Known for his professionalism, leadership and connection with supporters, Powell also earned England caps during his time at the club. He later returned as manager in 2011 and immediately rebuilt optimism around Charlton. In the 2011–12 season, Powell guided the club to the League One title with 101 points and a record 14 consecutive league victories. His strong bond with fans and calm leadership style made him hugely popular, and many supporters still regard him as one of Charlton’s finest ambassadors.
