Charlton Athletic enjoyed one of the best campaigns in the club’s modern history during the 2011–12 League One season. Managed by Chris Powell, Charlton won the League One title with 101 points, securing automatic promotion back to the Championship. The team played energetic, attacking football and was especially strong at home at The Valley. Key players included Bradley Wright-Phillips, who scored 22 league goals, alongside Johnnie Jackson, Dale Stephens and Yann Kermorgant. Charlton set a club record of 14 consecutive league wins during the season and finished comfortably ahead of Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United. The title win restored optimism around the club after several difficult years outside the top two divisions.
