Tony Bloom is the central figure in Brighton’s modern history. A lifelong Albion supporter from a Brighton family with long links to the club, he became a major investor in 2000 and then chairman in May 2009. He personally financed the Amex Stadium and the club’s training ground at Lancing, helping turn Brighton from a club scarred by the loss of the Goldstone Ground into an established Premier League side. Under Bloom’s ownership, Brighton won promotion to the top flight in 2017 and later qualified for Europe. He remains the club’s chairman and majority shareholder, and was awarded an MBE in the 2024 New Year Honours.
