Zé Roberto was one of Bayern Munich’s most elegant and versatile players. He starred for the club from 2002 to 2009, apart from a one-year spell back at Santos, and was valued for technique, control, work rate, and a superb left foot. Bayern’s official history notes that he first excelled on the left side before later moving into central midfield, where he helped dictate build-up play with intelligence and composure. He made 248 appearances, scored 20 goals, and won four Bundesliga titles plus four DFB-Pokals with Bayern. He is remembered as a classy, reliable all-rounder who brought both balance and flair.
