Giovane Élber was one of Bayern Munich’s most popular strikers and a major figure in the club’s success around the turn of the century. The Brazilian played for Bayern from 1997 to 2003 and was known for sharp finishing, clever movement, quick combinations, and a joyful, charismatic style. Bayern’s Hall of Fame notes that he scored 92 Bundesliga goals in 169 league matches for the club, winning four Bundesliga titles, three German Cups, the 2001 Champions League, and the 2001 Intercontinental Cup. More than the numbers, Élber was a crowd favourite who gave Bayern goals, personality, and flair.
