Broomfield Park was Airdrieonians’ historic home on Gartlea Road, Airdrie, opened in 1892 and used until 1994. It was famous for its tight, raucous feel—built in a natural hollow and unusually narrow (about 67 yards wide), with fans close to the pitch. The distinctive corner pavilion went up in 1907, with a main stand added later (mid-1920s). The record crowd was 24,000 vs Hearts in the Scottish Cup (8 March 1952). After the 1993–94 season it closed and was demolished in 1994.
